A very gently blackberry nose. The palate is well balanced, light for Ducru-Beaucaillou with a subtle feminine touch. Completely opposite to the backward, tannic 1998. By not forcing this wine they have made an elegant Saint Julien, which will provide fine drinking over the next 8 to 10 years. Very classical. Tasted at the chateau. Tasted June 2003.
