Produced from the oldest vines of the vineyard formerly known as Certan-Giraud, the 2003 Hosanna possesses a saturated ruby/purple color as well as gorgeous aromas of black raspberries, cherries, kirsch, flowers, and balsam wood. Lush and opulent, with low acidity, abundant fruit, and chewy, mouthfilling glycerin, this is a plump, fleshy, beautifully made Pomerol that should hit its prime in 2-3 years, and last for 12-15. The addition of 1-4% press wine had not yet been made, which is even more encouraging for this wine’s future. Moueix harvested the Merlot on September 6, but waited until September 17 to pull in the Cabernet Franc.
